A Day at the Park

An overcast sky with the threat of rain welcomed the Kents to Fallasburg Park this past Saturday.  The Kents were met by the home club Cubs as well as the Sydney Stars for what was originally designed to be a three team set of matches.  Due to issues on communication no team was there at the original 10am start time.  After some discussion, it was determined that all three teams would play with one team taking the field, one team taking their bats and the remaining team waiting their turn.

Although there were no match scores, the Kents stuck well in plating a total of 17 aces during the 6 innings played.  The Kents were led by Justin “Big Dutch” Buiter and Kelly “More and More” Patmore with 4 aces each while Wade “Bunker” Hillen and Mike “Dependable” DeJong each struck safely 5 times.  Jason Smith did a fine job in the role of hurler ensuring that if match scores were submitted, the Kents would have come out the victors!  A fine day was had by all including Jim “Silver Fox” Boles, Adam Kochanski and by Jared Monsma both in striking and playing fine defense.

The Kents next contest will be the Silas K. Pierce Cup on June 2nd at Riverside Park in Grand Rapids.
