Please feel free to join us for the Gentlemen’s Game of Yesteryear…
Most games are free to spectators and great fun for the young and old. Spectators often “get into the spirit” and play their roles as fashionable patrons of the era. Many games support local causes or are also part of historical festivals as well. Join us for family friendly entertainment and gentlemanly competion as we partake on a historical journey into the history of our national pastime. Base ball…the way it oughta be played. Directions to Riverside Park in Grand Rapids From U.S. 131:
(From North or I-96) Exit I-96 onto U.S. 131 North. Exit U.S. 131 at West River Drive Exit. Turn towards McDonald’s (south) on West River, proceeding through Comstock Park. Turn left at the third light onto North Park. Cross the river and turn right onto Monroe. Park is on the right, across from the Veterans Home.
(From South or I-196 Chicago) Exit I-196 onto U.S. 131 North. Exit U.S. 131 at Ann Street. Turn left onto Ann Street and proceed across river. Turn left onto Monroe Ave and proceed north approximately one mile. Field is on left, across from Veterans Home.
Directions to Fallasburg Park in Lowell, Michigan (Distance 20 miles):
Historic Fallasburg village is located adjacent to Fallasburg Park, four miles north of Lowell. From Grand Rapids, take I-96 to exit 52 and turn north towards Lowell, proceeding through the first traffic signal onto North Hudson Street – OR – take M-21 east to Lowell. In Lowell turn north on North Hudson Street and follow the signs to Fallasburg Park and Covered Bridge. Turn right on Fallasburg Park Dr. Veer right onto Covered Bridge Rd. Ballfield is across the bridge and then opposite the Misner Museum and Schoolhouse operated by the Fallasburg Historical Society.
Directions to Midland Chippewassee Park (Distance 115 miles):
From Grand Rapids take U.S. 131 north about 35 miles to M-46. Turn east on M-46 and go 43 miles to M-27. Turn north on M-27 to Mt. Pleasant and turn east on M-20. Take M-20 to Midland. Take M-20 into Midland and across Tittabawassee River. IImmediately after crossing the river, turn left on to Main St., and then after a short distance turn left again on to Currie Parkway, which takes you across a one lane bridge. After crossing the bridge, turn left on to Golfside (or Golfview), which is a gravel road, pass under the freeway and enter a small parking lot. The field is south of the parking lot.
Directions to Greenfield Village (Distance 155 miles):
From Grand Rapids take I-96 east 140 miles to M-39/Southfield Freeway. Take M-39/Southfield Freeway south. Take Greenfield Village (Village Road) exit to Eagle gate. Follow directions to staff and volunteer parking lot behind Eagle Tavern. Ball field is in the village near steamboat and carousel.
Directions to Douglas (Distance 45 miles):
From Grand Rapids take I-196 south to Saugatuck/Douglas exit (no. 41). Take Blue Star Hwy 3 miles into Douglas. In Douglas, turn left on Main Street and proceed to Center Street, site of the ballfield.
Directions to White Pine Village in Ludington (Distance 95 miles)
From Grand Rapids take I-96 to Muskegon. Turn north on U.S. 31 toward Ludington. South of Ludington, take old 31/Pere Marquette Hwy exit north about one mile to Iris Rd. Turn West on Iris Rd and proceed to “T” intersection with S. Lakeshore Dr. Turn north on S. Lakeshore Dr. White Pine Village parking lot is on west side of road about 1 mile.
Directions to Mason County Fairgrounds in Ludington (Distance 95 miles):
Take US 96 west toward Muskegon about 35 miles to US 31. Take US 31 north toward Ludington about 56 miles to US 10. Take US 10 West toward Ludington about 2 miles. The Mason County Fairgrounds, site of the game and Civil War muster, are on the right.
Directions to Montcalm Community College in Sidney (Distance 48 miles):
Take US 131 north to M-57 east towards Greenville. Travel about 10 miles to Lincoln Lake Road and turn left, going north. Lincoln Lake road curves east past 18 Mile Road and becomes Sidney Road. Stay on Sidney Road past the town of Sidney. Campus is on the left about 3 miles past town.
Directions to Mary’s City of David Ball Field in Benton Harbor (Distance 80 miles)
Take US I-196 south (80 miles). Merge onto I-94 to Chicago. Take the I-94-BR exit- exit number 33 – toward downtown/Benton Harbor/St. Joseph (1 mile). Take the Crystal Ave ramp and go south on Crystal Ave (1 mile). Turn right (west) on E. Britain Ave (1/2 mile). Turn left (south) on Eastman Ave into the Mary’s City of David grounds. The ball field is at the end of the street.
Directions to Van Hoosen Farm in Rochester Hills (Distance 150 miles):
Take US 96 about 50 miles east toward Lansing to US 69. Take US 69 east about 55 miles to US 75. Take US 75 south toward Detroit about 30 miles to M 59. Take M 59 east about 5 miles to Rochester Road (also Main Street or simply “Rochester”). Turn left or north and follow Rochester Road (Main Street) about 5 miles to Tienken Road. At this point you will begin seeing signs to Van Hoosen Farm. Turn right on Tienken Road and go about 1 mile to Van Hoosen Road. Turn left on Van Hoosen Road. You will see a brown dairy barn on the right, This is Van Hoosen Farm, the sight of the games.
Directions to Mackinac Island
Take US 131 north to M-55 East at Cadillac. Take US 127 North to merge with I-75 north into Mackinaw City. Ferries are available in Mackinaw City or St. Ignace, over the bridge. Follow the signs.
